545 & Rain, But......
Riding in the back of the school bus with a gaggle of hyper 6th graders on our way to the train station for the Art Trip to Chicago. Ran out of "parent seats" in front, so Mark Hayes and I volunteered to sit in the back - 3 to a seat with overly excited 6th graders! Hope it doesn't rain too much today. The HS kids are in good hands with Mrs. Benz and Mr. Jamerson. Remember that they get out of school @ 215 again today. Look for a few candids today from our 6th grade trip. These kids will be freshmen when our current freshmen are seniors. When I look at it like that - it doesn't seem that far off.

The Beginning of the End......
Today is the 1st day of final exams. Finals signify the true homestretch for the school year. We will have 1 test today plus 2 review sessions. As a bonus, the weather was awesome again this morning. We will finish testing on Friday.

Beautiful Morning
What a great way to start the work week. Sunny and breezy. Today is the high school's last regular period day. Tomorrow there is an open study hall for all HS students from 830-10am - attendance is not required. Our 1st final exam will be @ 10 and we will have 2 a day on Wed-Fri. Tuesday through Thursday HS students will be dismissed around 215p. Buses will run as normal. Friday our last final ends around 1130a. Students will be dismissed then. Seniors will have graduation practice @ 11a. This practice is Mandatory.
A big thanks to all the students and families that attended Senior Award Night last night. Pictures to follow soon!!!

Great Night for the Arts and Athletics!
Tonight the HS band and chorus put on a great show. They were great. From solos to duets and from Hello Dolly to Miss Saigon, they didn't miss a beat. Lindi, Amy, Emily, Olivia, and Dana took home awards. Thanks to the Seniors: Lindi, Amy, Brooke, Ian, Emily, Erin and Amanda.
The Girls track team will be heading to state in 4 events. 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, and KJ in the 100. Awesome job ladies. More about this tomorrow. !!!

Senior Letter
Dear Senior Parents/Guardians,
The end of the year is rapidly approaching. May seems to be the shortest month of the school year because it is a very busy time for seniors. I have included important upcoming dates and activities for you to add to your calendar. A few of the more important dates for parents are:
May 3rd Graduation announcements arrived in the HS Office
May 8th – 13th Senior Week
May 14th Promenade and Prom
May 17th Senior Cap and Gown pictures at AHS
May 22nd Senior Awards Night
May 27th Graduation Practice after last final exam. *Required
June 1 Report Card day
June 4th Graduation Ceremony at 10:00 a.m.
Senior Awards Night is Sunday May 22, 2010 at 5:00pm in the HS Library. Students who will be receiving an award will be receiving a letter in the mail by mid-May.
If your student has an outstanding balance in the cafeteria, high school office, or district office please make the required payment prior to June 2nd. Thank you for your cooperation.

Leadership Summit
@ Bradley listening to a couple of powerful speakers discuss how important it is for young people to lead. To lead change. To lead each other. To be there for others. Have good crop of our Juniors and Seniors with me as well. Lunch is now and then another speaker. I think the kids are getting something out of it. I guess I will find out on the way home. Illinois Principals Association Meeting
Spending the day @ the IPA participating in a planning session for the 2011Annual Principal's Professional Conference. The Power of Possibility is the theme this coming year. There is a very diverse group here in location and school size. We are having great discussions on what are the important issues all schools are facing.
